What's under the hood?
The Core page deliberately leaves out tech names - the choices may change, your data doesn't. But if you need to share this internally with your security team or IT lead, here are the actual components running today.
The components
The actual components powering Core today.
| Component | Role in the stack |
|---|---|
| Airbyte | Pulls data in from your sources - CRM, ERP, SaaS tools - and lands it raw in Core. |
| DuckDB | The analytical engine layer where the data is processed - fast enough for the questions and calculations that agentic analytics and agentic prompting throw at it. |
| dbt | Models and structures the raw data into clean, tested tables - same logic, same definitions, every time. |
| Cube | The semantic layer on top - makes data available as consistent measures and dimensions, so agentic analytics, agentic prompting and reporting all speak the same language. |
| Metabase | BI and reporting - for the dashboards and self-service insight that don't go through agentic analytics. |
| Trace | Built in-house by Usernest - part of the sovereign stack. |
Three environments
Every client gets test, dev and prod as separate environments - changes are validated before they hit production. Standard practice, for those of you who need to stand behind it in front of a security team or an auditor.
Test
Changes are tried out in isolation before they move further down the chain.
Dev
Ongoing development of Core happens here, separate from your live environment.
Prod
Your production environment - only what has been validated in test and dev ends up here.
Composable - and replaceable
The stack is built composable. We can swap out individual components over time if we find better alternatives - without it affecting you, and without you having to migrate anything. You don't depend on one tool surviving for 10 years; you depend on Usernest keeping the foundation up to date. The only thing that's permanent is your data.
A real setup
Wexøe Industry runs Core with Operate - we run the stack, they own the data. Concrete proof that the architecture holds, whether you run it yourself or let us do it for you.
